Minimal Tokyo atrium with a 32-plate clear and smoke crystal ring spiral

Project Introduction

The Vision

A toroidal spiral of clear and smoke-grey crystal plates introduces quiet movement to a minimal Tokyo cultural atrium, balancing sculptural presence with transparency and disciplined structural detail.

The Halo Cultural Atrium is conceived as a suspended study in rotation, balance and pause. A ring of curved crystal plates turns gradually through space, creating a toroidal spiral that changes character as visitors cross the quiet atrium.

Thirty-two clear and smoke-grey plates attach to a pale-gold nickel ring with carefully spaced collars. Their alternating tones make the geometry visible without sacrificing the transparency required by the restrained architectural setting.

Architecture / 01

The Space

Pale mineral surfaces, filtered daylight and generous negative space define the atrium’s Japanese contemporary character. The central volume calls for an artwork with sufficient identity to guide movement while respecting the calm of the architecture.

Illumination / 02

Light in Architecture

Eight suspension points hold the spiral in a precise horizontal plane while individual plates turn around its path. Warm concealed light catches their curved edges at dusk, allowing the form to emerge gently rather than dominate the daylight interior.
